As a pastor in the Global Methodist Church, my beliefs are rooted in the historic Christian faith, particularly shaped by the Wesleyan tradition. Below is a summary of the core doctrinal convictions that guide my life, ministry, and teaching. Email questions to ReverendChrisMullis@hotmail.com.
I believe in one God, who eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
I believe the Bible, both the Old and New Testament, is the inspired and authoritative Word of God, revealing God's will for salvation and righteous living. Scripture is the foundation for all matters of belief and practice, and it serves as the final authority for the church.
I believe that salvation is a gift of God's grace, offered freely to all who repent and trust in Jesus Christ. We are saved not by our works, but by faith in the atoning work of Christ on the cross. Justification is by faith alone, through grace alone, in Christ alone. However, faith is not merely intellectual assent. Genuine faith compels us to act and leads to worship and serve as we take up our cross and follow Jesus daily.
In the Wesleyan tradition, I believe in the doctrine of entire sanctification—the process by which believers, through the work of the Holy Spirit, are made holy in heart and life. Sanctification begins at the moment of salvation and continues throughout the believer’s life, culminating in Christian perfection, where love for God and neighbor becomes the defining characteristic of one’s life.
I believe the Church is the Body of Christ, made up of all who believe in Him. It is a community of faith, called to worship God, nurture believers, and proclaim the gospel to the world. The church’s mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ and spread scriptural holiness across the land, empowered by the Holy Spirit.
I believe in two sacraments instituted by Christ:
I believe every Christian is called to be a disciple of Jesus Christ, living out their faith in daily life. Discipleship involves regular participation in worship, study of Scripture, prayer, service to others, and the pursuit of personal holiness. As a follower of Christ, I am committed to equipping others to grow in their faith and live as faithful disciples.
I affirm John Wesley’s belief that there is no holiness without social holiness. As Christians, we are called to love our neighbors, seek justice, and work to spread holiness throughout society. I believe the church should engage in ministries that address spiritual, emotional, and physical needs, promoting justice, mercy, and peace in the world.
I believe all people are created in the image of God and, as such, have inherent worth and dignity. I affirm the sanctity of life, the importance of family, and the call to live according to biblical standards of morality. This includes a commitment to sexual purity, the sanctity of marriage between one man and one woman, and the promotion of a Christ-like ethic in every area of life. I believe the sacredness of all life compels Christians to resist the practice of abortion, except in the cases of tragic conflicts of life against life when the wellbeing of the mother and the child are at stake.
I believe in the personal and imminent return of Jesus Christ. He will come again to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end. Believers will enjoy eternal life with God in the new heavens and new earth, while those who reject Him will face eternal separation from God. The hope of Christ’s return calls the church to live with urgency, spreading the gospel and working for the kingdom.
These beliefs, rooted in the historic faith of the church and shaped by the Wesleyan tradition, inform every aspect of my ministry. I am committed to helping people grow closer to Jesus in everything I say and do, and especially through the study of Scripture, participation in Christian community, and faithful discipleship.
